The Annapurna region reigns as the most popular tourist destination, and Pokhara, a nearby city, is also very popular for its own beauty. English and Nepali are still the main languages spoken because it’s assumed foreigners can speak English, and Nepalis can speak Nepali. However, in this region in particular, I often heard Chinese, Spanish, German, Dutch and French, as well as other languages from all the different tourists.
Nepali rupees (NRS), or rupiyãs, more correctly, are used here. Right now the exchange rate is 116.85 NRS per 1 USD.
Bottles are available in Pokhara, but you'll probably fail to find a bottle of water in the Annapurna Conservation Area. The government banned the use of plastic bottles in the conservation area to reduce pollution before it happens. I never buy water bottles because I always refill my Nalgene with boiled or iodized water. Boiled water averaged 100NRS per liter while I was trekking.
