During my trek I climbed 2,260 meters in altitude to the overall level of 3,360 meters above sea level. Then, at the end of my trek, I had an eleven hour commute home consisting of a ten hour bus ride and a one hour walk home.
So far, the farthest place I’ve traveled to is Tangting, which is a bit farther into the mountains after getting to Pokhara.
At the beginning and end of my trek, I had to take a taxi, bus and jeep to get around, but my feet carried me everywhere else the majority of the week.
Before heading out for my trek, the rest of the students and I visited the Tibetan refugee camp, which consists of a museum, handmade carpet store, temple and little shops. We even got to see a few people weaving together pieces of an intricate carpet.
