How Kids in France Live and Learn

Introduction:

Take a look into the life of a high school student who lives in Lyon, France! The student talks about what school is like, the foods they eat, their family and what they like to do for fun. This will help you learn how kids in France live and how their lives are similar to and different from yours in the U.S.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For petit-déjeuner (breakfast), I usually eat eggs and toast or Trésor cereal with milk. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, I eat a croissant or a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant). For déjeuner (lunch), I eat whatever the school lunchroom is serving. Each meal comes with a salad, a main dish, yogurt and fruit or dessert. On the weekends, I usually eat a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. Dîner (dinner) is my favorite meal. I love eating a French taco or a hamburger and fries, even though it’s not very healthy. Most of the time, my family makes chicken and rice or pasta with sauce for dinner.

What is your house like?:

I live in an apartment with my family which includes my parents and my little brother. Our apartment has a kitchen, three bedrooms, a living room, a salle de bain (bathroom) and a toilette (toilet room). Fun fact: in France, the bathroom and the shower or bathtub are usually in different rooms.
