This week, I hitched a ride with a neighbor, used a taxi and public transportation vans (called combis) and charted a private van with my friends to get to the watefall trailhead. When I am in my town, I simply walk around to get anywhere because it is a small area and most places I need to go are all within one mile of each other.
The waterfall called Yumbilla was the most interesting place I visited this week. The waterfall itself was majestic and powerful, especially with the recent rains we have had. The part of the experience that was most interesting was the hike down to the bottom of the waterfall where you had to climb up and down very steep rocks with the assistance of a rope bolted into the rocks.
There are heavy rains in the mountainous regions of Peru right now that are causing landslides (derrumbes), flooding and road collapses and closures, making it difficult to travel to certain areas of the country.
