This week I traveled to Mexico City, which is about a two-hour drive from Puebla.
The farthest I have traveled so far is to Oaxaca, Mexico. Oaxaca is a state south of Puebla. We went to the beach in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. It was about a 12-hour bus ride to get to Puerto Escondido, so we broke up the drive over two days. On the first day, we traveled about five hours to Oaxaca City, and on the second day we drove the remaining seven hours to get to Puerto Escondido.
This week I got around by taking the "metrobus" (public transportation), Uber, and walking. To get to Ciudad de Mexico, we took a van.
The most interesting place I visited this week was the Basilica de Guadalupe in Mexico City. The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a church and national shrine that houses the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The church was built near the hill of Tepeyac, where it is believe that the Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Juan Diego. La Virgin de Guadalupe is very important to Roman Catholics, especially Mexican Catholics. The Basilica de Guadalupe is visited by millions of people each year!
