Taiwan School Days

What chores do you have at home?:

David said his mom usually has him wash his clothes himself. He just puts them in the washing machine and then hangs them up to dry when they're done, since most people in Taiwan don't have dryers.

What jobs do your parents have?:

Felix and Mark come from an area where alot of the parents are farmers or construction workers. David's mom is actually Addie, my co-teacher!

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

All the students have to help clean the school every morning, so they get to school around 7:30 to clean. Their first class starts around 8:00 and they go home at 3:50.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

Felix rides his bike to school like many other kids, but some other kids also walk. There are also some students who get a ride from their parents or grandparents if they live further away.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Felix, Mark, Hannah and Francis all eat lunch in their classrooms. At Nana's school, they have a cafeteria. Some favorite foods among all the kids are noodles or bubble tea, which is tea with milk and gummy-like chewy bubbles at the bottom.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Everyone said they speak Chinese at school, and "Ni Hao" is how you say "hello"!

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Nana said a lot of kids have a Chinese name and an English name that sounds like it.
