Don katsu is fried pork coated in crispy flakes. Don katsu is usually juicy, crunchy, and salty! There is a special sauce you can dip it in. Both of these meals were, for me, very different, but delicious!
When I tried the steamed clams, I was excited but also a little confused about how to eat them. I felt successful once I figured out how to take the meat out of the clam with my chopsticks. The clams taste a little bit salty and are very delicious! When I tasted the egg, ham, and cream cheese sandwich, I felt confused, as I hadn't realized there was cream cheese inside! After the first bite, I felt unsure whether I liked this combination: the slight sweetness of the cream cheese and the saltiness of the ham was a new taste for me. However, once I had tried some more of my sandwich, it began to grow on me. Sometimes, you just need to give new food a chance! When I ate the tteokbokki I was excited because I love the taste of tteokbokki. The tteokbokki together with the don katsu was delicious! A good combination of chewy, spicy rice cake and crunchy, juicy pork!
The clams are prepared by putting them in a pot and steaming them. Steaming is when you put a little bit of water at the bottom of a pot and then quickly put the lid on it. The water gets very hot and turns into steam, which cooks everything inside. The egg, ham and cream cheese sandwich was already put together and packaged for me to pick up at the store. Tteokbokki is prepared by softening the rice cakes in water and then boiling them with the sauce and the fishcakes.
