The Heavy Food in the North

During the winter break, I also did an Eastern European trip, visiting 11 different countries, and sampling many different local cuisines along the way. Most of it was similar, but all of it was delicious! My go-to in most places is steak, but if possible I get breakfast out, since that is my favorite meal of the day.

What food did I try?:

Some new foods I tried included fabada, cachopo, and cabrales cheese, which are all local to this region. The fabada is good, but the blood sausage inside of it I could do without. Cachopo is pretty good and very hefty. If you order it at a restaurant you could easily feed two, maybe three people. Unfortunately, I do not like cheese, and that could be hit or miss with these dishes. Lastly, my verdict after sampling the cabrales cheese is, to keep it simple, that I’ll never eat it again. As I mentioned, cheese isn't my favorite to begin with!

Now on to other regional foods. I had arroz a la Cubana, which is a rice dish that originated from Cuba. It is simple, yet delicious. I have also sampled a traditional Moroccan breakfast platter, cevapi, which is a type of sausage from the Balkans, and various dishes from Turkish cuisine.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Overall, no disrespect to Spaniards, but I am not a big fan of the food here. I just think other places have better options. Since Spain has a lot of seafood, and I do not eat much seafood, my rankings probably aren't indicative of how good that food here actually is. I bet people who enjoy seafood would rank it much higher on their own list!
