How Kids in France Live and Learn

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study many different subjects, including history, geography, math and French (reading and writing). All students also study English and another language. I chose Spanish, but some students study Italian or German. My favorite subjects are geography and English. I like learning about the world and about culture in the United States.

What is your homework like?:

My homework is different for each class. In math, I usually do practice problems. In history or French class, I might have to read books or articles. In France, homework is not always graded. It is usually just to prepare for class.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

After school, I like to hang out with my friends. Sometimes we get a snack or go to the park. I usually go home afterward to do my homework and eat dinner. I also like to play soccer with my friends. My school and most schools in France, don’t have sports teams or clubs like many schools in the United States.

Who is your favorite famous person?:

My favorite famous person is Michael Jordan. I love watching American basketball and the Chicago Bulls. One day I would love to go to an NBA game in the United States.

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

I mostly listen to pop and rap music. I enjoy French artists, but I also like many American singers. Some of my favorites are Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

What would you like to be when you grow up?:

When I grow up, I want to be a pilot. I want to fly airplanes and travel all around the world.
