Georgia is perhaps most famous for its Khinkali (Georgian dumplings) and Khachapuri (cheesy Georgian bread). The Khinkali can be filled with meat, mashed potatoes, cheese or mushrooms, and Khachapuri is made in multiple different ways but always has cheese and bread. While these are the most famous dishes, there are so many other wonderful foods that you can also find everywhere in Georgia. The only things you cannot easily find, here, are vegetables, which are not as popular to eat in Georgia, and often you can only find some that are mixed in with other dishes.
I have tried so many foods here that it is hard to keep track! Of course, I eat Khinkali and Khachapuri every week, trying different types at different restaurants. I also enjoy Shashlik, grilled meat, often lamb, and Mexican-style beans with cilantro called Lobio. They also put beans inside of fresh bread, kind of like a pizza crust, which is called Lobiani. I have had veal chops with Georgian sauce, Tashmijabi, incredibly cheesy mashed potatoes, and Kharcho, a traditional Georgian soup. I enjoy trying all sorts of new dishes or new takes on plates.
