Our News

Every day, the chef would make rice, lamb or chicken, beans, vegetables and a banana along with Moroccan natural tea.  It once again reminded me of the Cuban dishes my mom makes at home.

What music did I listen to this week?:

My host sister showed me famous songs in Arabic. I also got the chance to listen to traditional Moroccan folk music. This was very nice, because in many ways it reminded me of the music from the traditional music of my culture.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

The activity that was the most fun this week for me was in Rabat when our Moroccan program director planned a farewell party for the students and our host families. It turned out to be such a beautiful event. We got there and there was a table full of Moroccan desserts and tea. They had also brought out a group of four singers that were playing the drums and singing traditional Moroccan folk music. We got the chance to dance with our host families and everyone had a great time.

What did I read this week?:

For my classes, I mainly read articles and publications about the Moroccan healthcare system as well as on other issues within the country such as improving maternal and infant mortality, nutrition and addressing verbal harassment towards women.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

During our visit to the rural village, we visited a school for boys and girls. The students were on their lunch break and the boys had gone outside to play soccer. A couple of my peers and I formed teams and joined the students as they were playing soccer.
