As part of the program, my peers and I completed a local case study project based on our experiences during our trip to Morocco. For example, three of my peers and I chose to look at gender inequality and illiteracy rates in Morocco. It was very interesting to learn that in Moroccan culture, boys and men are often given more attention in school than girls and women. There is an existing gender inequality in access to education, especially affecting young girls.
