India is a country full of many traditions. Most traditions in India are connected with spiritual or religious beliefs. Rangoli is no exception. Rangoli is a type of traditional artwork that can be found in many different parts of India. Let me show you all about it!
If you have ever used chalk to draw a picture on the sidewalk, then I think you will probably be very interested to learn about rangoli. Instead of drawing pictures with chalk like we do in the United States, people in India sprinkle colorful powder on the ground to make rangoli.
They create elaborate rangoli designs outside of temples and outside of their homes. It is especially common to see rangoli on the sidewalk during festivals and other special occasions, and sometimes the patterns that people create have been passed down for generations upon generations!
