Paris is the center of the French-speaking world. The information on the signs in the garden are all in French. There are lots of tourists from all over the world who speak a lot of other languages, though. I heard a lot of English, for example. At one point, there was a little boy crying as he walked with his family. His mom reminded him that they were on vacation and that "there's no crying in Paris!"
The euro is used here, of course. This week, 1€ is equal to $1.15.
The garden is a rather touristy spot, so bottled water can be expensive. There are a few food stalls in the park. A bottle of water costs from 2€ to 3€.
I've been cooking for myself more often. I'm trying a lot of new recipes. My favorite so far has been some chicken with a butter and basil sauce. It's simple but very delicious. There's just something about French butter that makes food so much better!
Let me tell you about a dish I had last week. I had an authentic local dish in Giverny, in a restaurant next to Claude Monet's house. It is called daube normande, and it's a traditional stew with beef and carrots. The sauce is made from one of Normandy's most famous products, apple cider!
