All over convenience stores and supermarkets in Exeter, you can always find a huge wall of different kinds of sandwiches. Once I got to Exeter, I noticed that the sandwich options are a bit different than in the United States. Different types of bread and ingredient combinations can be found in the prepackaged sandwiches that are in Exeter.
I tried three different sandwiches at the convenience store at the University of Exeter, but these are also sandwich options that I found at many other stores as well. The three sandwiches that I tried were Farmerhouse Ploughman's, Egg and Cress and Ham, Cheese, and Pickle. Farmhouse Ploughman has cheddar, pickle and onion chutney, mayo, tomato and lettuce. The Egg and Cress sandwich had hard boiled eggs, mayo and cress, which is a type of herb. The ham, cheese and pickle sandwich had ham, matured cheddar and sweet pickle. Pickles in the United Kingdom are different from American pickles. The pickle that you will find in the United Kingdom is made of different fruits and vegetables soaked in a mixture of tomato, vinegar and sugar.
