Meet my Italian Professor!

What do you like to do in your free time?:

"In my free time, I like to read, listen to audiobooks, watch movies, and write stories. I even wrote a script in Italian! On the side, I also like to cook and bake. I love baking cakes!"

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

"I speak Italian, English, French, Greek and Spanish. I studied Spanish at my university for a year and a half. I also studied and taught Latin for 10 years. I speak a little German since I also studied one semester of it. In Italian, "Ciao" is how you greet others!"

Do you have pets?:

"I have a dog named Poohbear, which is a mix of a Border Collie and Labrador. I used to have a cat named Grace and another cat named Violetta."

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

"Yes, I have traveled a lot. Within the United States, I traveled to Alaska. Outside of the United States, I've been to the Greek Islands, Baltic Sea, the Caribbean, Cuba, Mexico, Italy, France, London and Germany."

What do you do for work?:

"I am a professor at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). I teach courses in Italian, one course in the Classical department, and another course in the Comparative Literature department." 

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

"Read a lot of poetry! My favorite poet is Emily Dickinson, who writes about nature and bees. Also, when you can the chance, visit Harry Potter studios in London if you are a fan. And last, but not least, start learning languages early!"
