The two main types of transportation are walking and public transportation. The only cars I see on the streets are mainly taxis! I will go more in detail about both, but the mode of transportation is different compared to California.
In Italy, everyone walks or takes the bus. For me, it takes about 15 minutes to walk to school every morning and I really enjoy a nice stroll in the city. It is nice and quiet in the morning as everyone is just starting their day which is a nice contrast to how crowded it gets at night. I also walk to the grocery store, to the bank, or anywhere else that I need to go. Not only am I helping the environment, but this is also good exercise for all the ice cream I am eating!
Have any of you ridden the public bus before? I don't remember the last time I did before Italy! I volunteer at a welcome center outside of Florence, so I take the bus quite often. It is about a 30-minute bus ride every time, which is not too bad. A lot more people ride the bus here compared to California, so it is always hard to find a seat. It is crowded, but it is safe and I enjoy using the bus to get around.
