My friends are also Peace Corps volunteers who live all around the country. So, I don't see them very often. It's so fun to be here with them!
This week, I am reading a book named Cry of the Kalahari. It's a great book about two people who are living in the Kalahari and doing research on animals. They are observing animals like hyenas (an animal that kind of resembles a scruffy dog) to learn more about their behavior. I am really enjoying the book!
I recently went camping in the Kalahari. So, it's really interesting to have images in my head when the book is describing the landscape of the Kalahari. While they were researching, the characters did not have many resources - their supply of food and water was low. It is so cool to read about how they solved problems to continue their research.
This week, I have been playing a game on my phone called Country Mania. Country Mania is an app that is helping me to learn about the different world flags. When I have time, I like to play one or two rounds. The app shows you four or five new flags from different countries around the world. When you are ready, you start a quiz that tests your ability to match a flag with the correct country name. My goal is to know all of the world flags by the end of the year!
The weather is starting to cool down at last! It looks like summer is winding down in Botswana. The summer temperatures can be very hot. But, the winter months are June and July. We won't get any snow, but I am excited for cooler weather here.
