Daily Life in Slovakia - A Native's Perspective

I love coffee, so a nice coffee shop and a long conversation with friends is a great combination how to spend time in between classes. I also like to volunteer for the Children´s Hospital here in Bratislava where I go with three other volunteers to visit children hospitalized in the cardiology department every Tuesday evening. We play board games, draw or color or pretty much anything that their condition and nurses allow. Other than that I love hiking which is what we have in common with my boyfriend and like to do at weekends. I like running, which I find to be very refreshing after a hard day."

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

"In addition to Slovak, I speak English. I´ve been studying it since primary school. I´ve always loved studying foreign languages, so I was very excited to start with Spanish in high school. Studying a second foreign language is mandatory for us in most high schools. Hello in Slovak is Ahoj."

Do you have pets?:

"I do have a dog. It is a Yorkshire terrier, and his name is Tobby. He is a true member of our family. We´ve had him for over 10 years now. He lives in Presov with my parents who take care of him whilw I study in the city, 400 kilometres (249 miles) away from home. I miss him but knowing that he is well cared for and spoiled by my parents makes it easier."

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

"I have traveled to United States as a foreign exchange student, where I spent a year studying in a high school. It was a dream come true for me.
